GenderSmart® Coaching

Women recognize, often without even being able to articulate their concern, when executives don’t walk their talk. The likely fact that executives’ intentions are good offers some benefits but not significant results. If executives and managers don’t know how to talk with and manage women in a way that makes them feel supported, taken seriously, respected, and acknowledged...retention and potential leadership talent will be compromised.

Very often, executive coaching that supports gender communication and management issues is one of the many recommendations stemming from Jane’s consulting work. Women are different than men (equal, just different) and respond more productively to communication and management styles that accommodate those differences. Even the fact that some women don’t want to call attention to themselves by requiring different treatment reinforces the need for this work – they are afraid to rock the boat and do anything that men in power will balk at – they want to fit in and glide easily to the top, the same way men do. Corporate life rarely works that way.

Therefore, coaching for executives, managers, and/or selected women can offer significant benefits and powerfully enhance efforts to transition a company to its GenderSmart culture. The route to this optimal culture is a two-way street – a company is better-served when both genders learn how to communicate with each other and understand both the masculine and feminine styles of communication and management. This is by no means an issue only for men to address. For women to advance and be prepared for leadership, they must understand men’s point of view and learn how to operate within the culture particular to the company they work for.

With GenderSmart Coaching for Executives/Managers, you will learn skills to help you:

  • Communicate more effectively with both men and women at all levels (and at home too)
  • Understand how you may be misperceiving people with a style different than your own (masculine or feminine)
  • Understand how you and your style may be misperceived by others
  • Adopt a more flexible style when necessary to accommodate others
  • Develop more productive, harmonious working relationships with superiors, peers, clients, and staff – men and women
  • Feel more confident when dealing with others using the opposite style
  • Give feedback more effectively and compassionately so it will be heard and accepted
  • Get better results through improved communication and management techniques

With GenderSmart Coaching for Women, you will learn skills to help you:

  • Accomplish all the outcomes listed above for executives and managers, plus...
  • Improve your advancement potential
  • Communicate more confidently, concisely and directly, with courtesy and respect
  • Avoid misperceptions by others that you are indecisive, weak, or incapable of management or executive positions
  • Approach your work with more confidence
  • Stay on track and focused, with accountability for your progress and future
  • Increase productivity and reduce stress with improved time management skills
  • Improve your decision-making and risk-taking skills
  • Handle difficult people and situations more effectively
  • Promote yourself more effectively to superiors for career advancement
